Get to know us: |
Mrs. Gail Christmas: Mrs. Christmas serves the BFUHS students as a CFG/ Title 1 Reading Specialist and has 23 years teaching experience in areas such as elementary education, school counseling, special education, and reading and language arts. Mrs. Christmas is a key member of the BFUHS Freshman Academy. She received her BS from Castleton State College
as well as graduate credits through UVM, Keene State College and Castleton. Her interests include reading (especially historical fiction), genealogy, identifying and restoring old photographs, traveling (has visited more than 20 countries) and spending time at the ocean. |
Mrs. Katheryne Emond: After graduating from Brattleboro Union High School, Mrs. Emond and went on tour with the Young Americans: a musical performance outreach group based in southern CA. She studied massage therapy in Pria da Luz Portugal, before pursuing her Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in secondary education. She graduated
from Salem State College after a semester abroad studying French at the Sorbonne. She recently married and moved back to Vermont from Florida, where she taught Language Arts for two years at Leesburg High School. While at Leesburg, she coached the JV girl's soccer team and sponsored the drama club.She is currently working with the Drama Club at BFUHS and is excited to be joining the BFUHS family this year. |
Mrs. Holly Falzo, Dpt Coordinator: Mrs. Falzo, a graduate of BFUHS, returned to BFUHS in 1986 to teach English. She has a BA in Secondary English from Trinity College of Vermont as well as a Masters of Arts for Teachers of English and other credits from Keene State College. She has an interest in Media Education and has developed the Print and
Broadcast Media class that she teaches at BFUHS. Part of the curriculum for this course involves students in television production and the students produce programs for FACT-TV, the Public Access Television Station. Mrs. Falzo presently serves as coordinator of the English Department, secretary/ treasurer for the WNESU Teacher’s Licensing Board and special helper to the BFUHS Student Council. In her “free time” she is an adjunct faculty member at Keene State College. Much to Mrs. Falzo's surprise, she was named the UVM 2008 High School Teacher of the Year for the Windham Northeast Supervisory Union. |
Mr. Daniel Mitnik: Mr. Mitnik is starting his second year at BFUHS. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he received his B.A. in English literature, with an additional emphasis in theater. Daniel went on to Emory School of Law, where he earned his law degree. He practiced law for over fifteen years in the New York area, before moving to Vermont to own and operate his own business. Two years ago, Daniel attended the Upper Valley Teacher Institute, in Lebanon,
New Hampshire, and became a Vermont certified teacher. Daniel is passionate about helping students gain literacy and communication skills they can use throughout their lives. He is also very involved in raising his sixteen-year-old son, and his fourteen-year-old boy/girl twins. |
Ms. Judy Palmer-Guest: Ms. Palmer-Guest has been teaching for 14 years and this is her fifth year at
BFUHS. She earned her undergraduate degree in Speech Communication and Drama at Emerson College and a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in English and Multicultural Education from the School for International Training. She has had many opportunities to teach and study among diverse settings and abroad. She has studied and traveled throughout the Netherlands and Europe, in Southern Mexico and in Ecuador and Peru. She strives to expose students to the world around them, thus encouraging them to share their own life experiences and explore the diverse cultures of the world through travel. She is a member of the BFUHS Literacy Committee. Not only is Ms. Palmer Guest a committed teacher, she is also a committed wife and mother of two children. |
Mrs. Tiffany Tobin: Mrs. Tobin has been teaching for 12 years with a Masters of Education from the College of St. Joseph and B.A. in English/Secondary Education from St. Bonaventure University. Mrs. Tobin generously serves as a mentor for new teachers at BFUHS, a very important role in teaching. She has taught a variety of classes at BFUHS and is dedicated
to developing her curriculum and helping her students. Mrs. Tobin’s outside interests include reading, traveling and enjoying time with her family. |
