In the belief that the study of other languages and cultures is an integral part of our school's curriculum, BFUHS requires at least one credit of study in any of the following areas: Latin, French and Spanish. Let's face it! The world is changing rapidly and in order to survive and prosper in our international society, you need an understanding of other peoples and their languages. As a department, we strongly encourage you to do all of the following:
- Achieve a high level of proficiency in at least one language
- Broaden your studies by taking a second or third language
- Pursue language and cultural studies throughout your lives
Currently we offer 4 credits in Latin, 5 credits in French and 5 credits in Spanish. Students are evaluated based on class participation, homework, projects, written tests and quizzes. In Spanish and French, additional evaluation criteria include interviews and recorded oral proficiency assessments.
