334 NOVICE FRENCH A (3)
1 CREDIT
Parlez-vous francais? Over three hundred million people in this world speak French, so why don’t you? You’ll learn this important international language in a variety of ways. We will emphasize the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. You’ll speak the language and visit many exotic places in this class, while we learn about many aspects of French culture and civilization throughout the world.
After completing this course, you’ll be able to express yourself on a variety of topics: greetings, weather, time, calendar numbers, colors, school, town, home, family, friends, food, appearance, and personality. All this not only from a personal perspective, but also from the point of view of the French and other Francophone peoples whom you will be studying. At first it will be tough, what with the differences in sounds, words, and structures between French and English. But over the duration of the course, you will become more French, as will your pronunciation, your vocabulary, and your grammar. Before you know it, you’ll be asking questions and giving answers about many topics, both orally and in writing – in French!
