International Foods
825 International Foods ½ - credit
International Foods is an elective course in Family & Consumer Sciences. It is strongly recommended that a Foods course (800) precedes this class; the basics of kitchen prep knowledge are necessary for time management in the foods labs. Students explore the history of food and preparation as it relates to three diverse countries. Becoming familiar with ingredients, agriculture methods, food utensils and customs of the various regions provides an overview of the diverse society in which we live. Included in the course are final exams, activities involving food preparation and serving, and study questions. Evaluations of time and energy management for sit down dinner gatherings are part of the grade including three final banquets with guests. Examples of course work may include
Mexican, Italian and Chinese cuisine, but not limited to these regions.
