We are building a radio telescope to listen to radio signals from Space! Both the Sun and Jupiter are powerful sources of radio waves, powerful enough to be picked up on Earth. Our telescope consists of an antenna, a receiver, and a PC to record the data. The data we record is compared with that of other radio telescopes. If we see something it is valuable information to professional scientists.
You can be involved in our project. We need help finishing building the antenna and setting up the radio telescope. We will also need help to check the telescope daily to see if we see anything from the Sun. (We won't be able to see anything from Jupiter until it is in a better position in the night sky this fall.) See me if you are interested in getting involved. Your science teacher may be willing to give you extra credit.
