Hello, my name is Ryan Parkman and I am the Assistant Principal here at Bellows Falls Union High School. I was born and raised in Rutland, Vermont where I graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in 1987. I began my collegiate career at the University of Lowell (currently named the University of Massachusetts at Lowell) majoring in
Music as part of the Sound Recording Technology program. After my freshman year I transferred to Castleton State College and changed majors to Business. I received an Associate's Degree in Business in 1990. I then took a year off from schooling to work with my father in the family construction business. I returned to school once again at Castleton State College to work on my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics/Secondary Education that I received in 1993.
My first teaching experience was at West Rutland High School in an interim position for a teacher on leave. The following year I began working at Rutland High School where I stayed for the next eleven years. During my stay at Rutland High School I coached the girls' lacrosse team for ten years, wining Marble Valley League titles in '99, '00, '01 and '05 and being named MVL coach of the year in '99 and '01. In the summer of 1995 I began working on my Master's degree in Mathematics Teaching from the University of New Hampshire which I completed in 1999. The year of 2004 marked the completion of my second master's degree. A Master's degree in Educational Administration was received through the Woodruff Institute for School Leadership at Castleton State College.
In 2005 my family moved to the Springfield area to be closer to my wife's place of work and closer to my new position at Bellows Falls Union High School. In my spare time I enjoy playing and listening to music. I am also an avid sports fan; my favorite teams are of course any Terrier team and also the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. Feel free to stop by and visit any time.
