While this is my second edition of my “Principal’s Message” for the 2007-2008 school year, I feel as though I can still open by welcoming you to our “newly revised web site” and continue to hope that this is a user-friendly opportunity for you to gather information about our school as well as communicate with our staff. As many of you know, the creation of and maintenance of a web site is a very time consuming task. We continue to receive training for the various departments and through this training, continue to update our information for you. For this edition, I would like to recognize the efforts of our new school receptionist, Kim Keefe, who is currently building her web site skills and devoting many hours to the improvement of this communication link. Thanks you, Kim.
Because much of the information available in this web site has been updated only recently, you may come across some minor errors. Please bring that information to our attention so that we can improve our product. Also, as you work with this web site, you may come up with suggestions for additional information or useful links that we could include. We welcome your suggestions. Please call the school at 463-3944.
In these first few months of the new school year, our staff and students have been very busy with a number of projects. Through the middle of October, we, as a school, have devoted a significant amount of time to our preparation for the Vermont State standardized testing called NECAP. Our preparations have included relatively short term goals, such as preparing this year’s eleventh grade student for this year’s test, as well as long term goals, with “mini-lessons” for the ninth and tenth graders covering skill areas that will help them be successful when they get a chance to take these test in the coming years. We recently completed the test administration for our juniors and I was very pleased with the great effort that the student committed to this important
measuring stick for school performance.
While it feels like school has just begun, we are really just a few weeks from the end of the first quarter. For parents and student that are reading this, please keep up the support (parents) and hard work (students) as we work through the midpoint of our first semester courses. Do not hesitate to contact your teachers if you need extra help in any of your classes. A few questions asked early can pay big dividends in the long run.
If you are visiting this site for the first time and have questions about our school, please feel free to stop by for a visit or call me with some questions at 802-463-3944, ext. 207.
Let me close by wishing good luck to our sports teams as the fall seasons wind down and the playoffs begin. Go Terriers!
