What is a PTO?
l place for parents, teachers and community members to get together to talk about issues in an informal setting
l advocate for educational issues and academic excellence
l disseminate info on school happenings and channel involvement (band, trips, activities, etc.)
l provide parents with resources on internet usage, health issues, etc.
l sell school-related items at all activities (plays, science fairs, etc.)
l forum for discussion of school programs and understanding of them
l discussion and understanding of school policies
l feedback mechanism between parents, faculty and school administration
l place to discuss meaning of NECAP tests
l allow parents to understand community service component and learn how to support it.

l what are the needs of students with disabilities?
l homework- what's expected? Why do it?
l understanding the role of teachers – prior and after-school assistance programs. Parental volunteers?
