The Freshman Academy held an awards assembly for the members of the Class of 2013 on Thursday, February11th in the high school auditorium. Freshman Academy team members and other freshman teachers felt these students should be rewarded for their hard work and effort over the course of the first semester. The transition to high school can present a variety of challenges and as a staff we have been pleased to observe the commitment and growth the large majority of students have made. It is hopeful that trend
will not only continue during this second semester, but throughout their high school careers.
Mr. John Broadley, assistant vice principal and FA team member, served as MC of the event and presented certificates to those students who achieved perfect attendance for the first semester. It has been the team’s experience that attendance is one of the major predictors of school success. Those students were: Logan Cushman, Zachary Haldeman, Collin Johnson, Denise Kingsbury, Michael LaBeau, Dylon Metcalf, Eniola Mustapha, Chace Perkins, Kyle Reeve, Lauren Rowell, and Stewart Shaughnessy.
Another area of emphasis within the Freshman Academy is the consistent completion of homework, which is monitored on a daily basis. Our homework lab is a mandatory after school support for those who have not been prepared for class on the given day or for any student who would like help with their work. Homework completion is another area linked to school success. Awards were determined based on successful homework completion as reflected through homework lab statistics. The following students receiving recognition were: Ethan Amidon,Daniel Armstrong, Samantha Barth, Kassie Childs, Krystyna Chopko, Patricia Damon,Alexis Dodge, Frank Furgat, Hannah Gassett, Jacob Hodsden, Darian James, Denise Kingsbury, Michael LaBeau, Tucker Lawrence, Ben Masure, Nicole McAllister, James Morton, Brittany Moyna,

The Elks Club Students of the Month program has been in place within the school for many years. Students are nominated by teachers for their academic effort, attitude, attendance, contribution to school life, and contribution to community life. Historically, nominated students have are almost exclusively been members of the junior or senior class, although this year one freshmen was nominated. Although we do not have a certificate for this honor, we would like to announce that Chace Perkins was nominated for this prestigious award.
