During the week of Dec. 7th, Mr. Divis' World History II and World Cultures classes will be taking part in Amnesty International's Global Write-a-thon. Students will be choosing an individual who is currently imprisoned as a result of calling for human rights in their country and will be writing a letter in support of that person to their government or embassy. This is an international program that brings together writing skills with social and political issues around the world. The Global Write-a-thon raises awareness about these human
rights abuses and empowers individuals to take action against these violations. The Global Write-a-thon is a great way for individuals to have a positive impact on the lives of victims of human rights abuses around the world. December 10, International Human Rights’ Day, marks the anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). It is a day to stand in solidarity with human rights defenders around the world.
